CSCS and Causeway join forces to offer SmartCard solutions to construction
CSCS has announced that it has appointed Causeway as sole provider of application licenses on the new CSCS SmartCard introduced earlier this year. The applets will enable construction contractors and clients to utilise internet technology to improve site security, time and attendance.
CSCS, Construction Skills Certification Scheme, introduced SmartCards to improve construction site safety, security and efficiency by providing the ability for CSCS cards' authenticity to be checked more quickly and accurately on site. Contractors and clients who purchase licenses to utilise smart technology through CSCS cards may store and access a range of other information to meet their business requirements such as recording training data and continuing professional development (CPD), toolbox talks and site inductions, site access controls and verifying CBH occupational health data.
CSCS chief executive Brian Adams comments: "We are delighted to be working with Causeway to help construction contractors and clients improve their business processes through the use of CSCS SmartCards. We wanted to work with a company who could provide an excellent service and who already had significant contacts in the construction industry. Working together with Causeway we expect the SmartCard to go from strength to strength."
Causeway CEO, Phil Brown adds: "We welcome the opportunity to work with CSCS and construction industry employers in rolling out SmartCard technology. The efficiency benefits of a single industry wide SmartCard are vast, with a wide range of applications now becoming possible."
CSCS is the major competence card scheme for the construction industry. It was established to help the industry to improve quality and reduce accidents and CSCS are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others. There are 1.5 million current CSCS cards covering hundreds of occupations.
