Causeway Steps up its Social Responsibility Programme
Causeway, the construction software people, is undertaking a number of activities that emphasise the serious approach it takes to corporate social responsibility (CSR). These examples are manifestations of the organisation’s attitude to its impact on the environment and wider community.
Causeway has agreed to sponsor several sporting and cultural teams and individuals which include Olympic hopeful, Nicci Meadows of Henley, the WASPS Academy & Apprenticeship, Chesham Athletic Youth Football Club and Yorke Dance Project, a contemporary dance company that supports the development of youth dance leaders across London and the south west.
Causeways’ total spend on charitable activities this year will be 5% of the company’s profit and, so far, Causeway has raised £140,000 for the Dallaglio Foundation via the cycle slam in Spring this year.
“We recognise the responsibility we have as a business,” explains Martyn Lambert, Business Development Director, “It is about having an awareness of the wider world in which the business exists and not simply operating in a silo, with a blinkered view of our position in the community. Each of these initiatives provides training and development for young people, helping them to progress in their careers and further influence their own communities through their progressive attitudes.”
Causeway is also working with the Carbon Trust to reduce its CO2 emissions. The first phase of this was to baseline existing emissions within the group and their footprint. Causeway is now developing their carbon reduction plan to identify cost effective and workable activities that will help cut their carbon emissions.
Martyn continues “As part of our service to our customers we inevitably create an environmental footprint; however it cannot be overlooked that the construction industry has already taken on the challenge to significantly reduce its emissions. Therefore Causeway will strive to lead this challenge. Our aim is to be seen as the most viable and environmentally responsible software partner for clients, main contractors, sub contractors and engineers in the construction industry.”
Employing over 200 people and with offices in the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and India, Causeway specialises in providing software solutions to the construction and engineering industry. Causeway’s approach enables its customers to achieve process efficiency and financial control through the entire construction process. No one else has such a complete vision of how IT can support construction best practice, helping our customers realise increased value and profitability.
