Causeway YOPEY Winners Announced
Young People of the Year Awards Ceremony Rewards Bucks Youth
All the YOPEY Finalists in the Causeway Young People of the Year Awards at the prestigious Awards Ceremony held at Pinewood Studios on 1st December.
The awards
celebrate youngsters from across Bucks who are ‘positive role models and give to others’. Over 20 young people attended the event as finalists, winning over £2500 between them, receiving half themselves and half for their chosen charities.
Congratulations to the Winners:
Overall Winner - Rebecca Varatharajah who volunteers at school and is heavily involved with the local community
Youth Winner - Chelsie Browne, a life-saver to mum and sports hero to others
Second Place - Kesia Nagle who went from school rebel to role model
Third Place - Ed Corble for running a Fairtrade stall in the community
YOPEY was founded by Tony Gearing, a former national newspaper journalist fed up with the ‘bad press’ inflicted on young people. He said: “Everywhere you look nowadays young people are being condemned. It's almost as if every one of them is a binge-drinking, drug-taking, violent hoodie.”
