The Construction Accredited Performance Standards (CAPS) Scheme was first introduced in late 2003. It assists clients and principal contractors to establish their construction supply chains by providing an objective assessment of a company’s competencies and standards that is validated by an independent audit.

Local authority health and safety and contract professionals, supported by the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety (CHAS) Assessment Scheme over recent years. It is now available for any public sector organisation to use in their pre-qualification process for contractor application for approved/select list or short-listing.

Network for Construction Collaboration Technology Providers (NCCTP) |

The NCCTP (Network for Construction Collaboration Technology Providers) formed in December 2003. The network will help to promote the effective use of online technology to support collaborative working on projects and capital developments in UK construction. It aims to increase interoperability between systems — engendering easy transfer of data through definition and adoption of standards. The Network will promote the benefits of using collaborative technology and demonstrate the value of collaborative working. Importantly, it provides a single independent body with whom clients can communicate regarding the future development of collaboration technology.
