Olympia to London: 2,862 km in 22 days

Causeway is proud to join English sporting legends, Lawrence Dallaglio and Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, as we undertake the ride of our lives – the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam 2012.

In just 22 days, we will cycle 2,862 km, from the birthplace of the Olympic Games in Greece, to the new Olympic Park in London.

Our route is as picturesque as it is challenging.  Starting at Olympia on 23rd of April, we will wind along the length of Italy, through the towering Alps, along the famous Paris-Roubaix ride in France and, eventually, collapse in London on the 18th of May.

By undertaking this gruelling epic of a journey, we hope to raise £50,000 to help Lawrence and Freddie towards their target of £2,012,000.

Our route is divided into five stages, each between 483 and 728km long and climbing anywhere between 4,551 and 6,576 metres.  We will have a day of rest after each stage, but that’s all!

This kind of ride takes a lot of training, a lot of preparation and a lot of equipment.

From glasses, gloves and shorts, to pumps, tubes and tyres – we will be laden from the very beginning.  Of course, there's also the bike…

Though we will all personalise our rides, they will all have a few key things in common:

Ergonomic saddle,

for added comfort

Widespread rear gear cassette for handling a variety of terrains

Powerful dual

pivot brakes

Ultra lightweight

carbon frame

Compact chain-set

provides lower gear

ratios for tackling hills

Carbon steerer for accurate steering and absorption of road vibrations

Thin tyres increase speed and reduce both air and rolling resistance

We have set ourselves a very ambitious target but,

with your help and support, we know we can achieve it.

Most the money we raise will go to Cancer Research UK via the Dallaglio Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital via the AF Foundation. The other15% will go to Virgin Unite, to support their initiatives to improve the employability of young people in the UK.

Please donate generously towards this incredible undertaking and help us

make a difference.
