Morrison selects Causeway Project Accounting to assist in Salford Contract
Morrison Highway Maintenance has recently announced the award of its largest contract to deliver highway services in Salford.
The contract with Salford City Council is for twelve years, with a three-year optional extension. Morrison will manage the delivery of highway maintenance and improvement works including a programme of investment in Salford's road network valued at £7.5 million a year for the next five years.
These highways services will be delivered through an innovative Strategic Service Partnership named Urban Vision that comprises Morrison Highway Maintenance, Capita Symonds and Salford City Council. Urban Vision, launched in February 2005, will provide a range of services to the City Council including development control and building control, landscape design, property management, architectural design, engineering and highways.
One of the principal challenges for Morrison is to achieve improvements to the routine maintenance service and, in particular, to improve defect response times, making the footways in Salford safer and providing the City Council with a more robust means of repudiating accident claims. This demands a more efficient way of managing the numerous works order transactions that traditionally generate large volumes of paper.
Morrison has introduced Causeway Project Accounting (CPA) to electronically manage this flow of works orders and integrate directly with the Salford's asset management system. CPA will also enable Morrison to manage all of the business process associated with the capture of cost transactions, which enables the calculation of cost value comparisons and instantly provides real time analysis of profitability on a job by job basis.
Morrison sought the expertise of Causeway due to its vast experience in providing financial and maintenance management solutions for contractors on numerous Highways Agency MAC contracts and Local Authority term contracts, including Derby City, Somerset, Bradford and Northamptonshire.
