Middle East fit-out, construction and management services specialist ISG has been using Causeway Estimating at its Dubai office since 2009 and has now expanded the system to the whole Estimating division in support of its sustained growth in the region.

New contracts for ISG include complex projects with very compressed programmes where the clash detection functionality afforded by Building Information Modelling (BIM) will be a useful tool in enabling pre-planned works to take place before work begins on site. This functionality is being used by ISG in other parts of its business and the Middle East office is following suit by trialing Causeway's BIMMeasure software. Pre-Construction Director Darren Pavitt commented:

"We first teamed up with Causeway in 2009, replacing a spreadsheet based system with Causeway Estimating and CADMeasure. The benefits of this investment became apparent very quickly, in terms of both reducing our costs and improving our service to customers. A key benefit in using a more sophisticated pricing software solution such as Causeway is in being able to audit the costs through the lifecycle of the tendering process, especially with the many changes that occur along the way. "Since 2009 we have seen our project portfolio grow considerably so we have now extended our use of Causeway Estimating and CADMeasure to the whole department. Causeway products are now supporting our bids in the UAE, Qatar and the rest of the GCC."

As previously reported in ConstructionWeekOnline, ISG has a strong foothold in the office fit-out market and is making major inroads into the hospitality and high-end residential sectors. Recent contract wins include a $10 million project within the oil & gas industry for China National Petroleum Company (CNPC). The project is underway, covering a total area of over 250,000ft2 within Dubai's Emaar Business Park. This project shows the increased confidence in the market with a large multinational company taking such a large space. The project is being managed by AECOM who have provided CNPC with pre-construction and ongoing construction management services. These services include Project Management, Commercial Management and MEP Management. ISG and AECOM have delivered a number of successful projects within the region and the CNPC project will be another successful project for all involved. Over the past 3 years ISG has completed projects within the oil & gas industry with a value in excess of $20 Million. Causeway COO Paul Madeira added:

"The partnership between ISG and Causeway has proved very successful and we are delighted that our products have made a significant contribution to ISG's growth. I have no doubt that the new BIM products we are bringing to the market will add another dimension to the way our two companies work together."
