In putting information technology at the heart of their business, construction cost advisers Exigere have selected modules from Causeway’s CATO Cost & Programme Management suite.

“When we established the company we decided to make a significant investment in IT to ensure our systems enhance our own efficiency and add value to the service we deliver to our customers,” recalled Exigere’s Dan Fryer. “Having used the CATO Cost Planning module in a previous company we knew it would provide us with the functionality that we needed.
“In addition, with a growing number of customers using BIM, we needed to be able to extract information from Building Information Models efficiently. A case in point is Great Portland Estates, which is championing BIM on projects such as the refurbishment of 148 Old Street in London. On this project Causeway’s BIM Measure automated measurement tool has given us the functionality to extract quantities directly from the project BIM,” he added.

The CATO Cost Planning module is a versatile software package that enables costs to be developed using the integrated ‘rate builder’, drawn from other projects, or a combination of both. BIM Measure provides the ability to measure directly from BIMs and export the data to CATO Cost Planning.

“The relationship we have with Causeway is very beneficial. They listen to what we have to say and have already introduced some small changes to the software that we requested. The training they provide is also very good,” Dan Fryer concluded.
