GKR Maintenance & Building has recently extended its use of the Causeway Telematics vehicle tracking system to include more vehicles and to enhance its integration with Causeway Vixen Service and Maintenance. The integration between Telematics and Vixen enables the company to pinpoint the location of engineers in relation to jobs, so that they allocate resources in the most efficient way. Based in Caerphilly, GKR is an award-winning building maintenance service provider with a diverse client base that includes retail, commercial, social housing and public sector organisations. The company has been enjoying year-on-year growth and expanding steadily.

“We have clients spread all over Wales and the South West of England so having good visibility of our engineers is vital to the efficiency of our operations,” explained GKR IT Manager, Tim White. “Previously we had been using a tracking system that didn’t integrate with Vixen, so there was considerable duplication of effort. To address this we initially introduced Telematics system in 2010 and, more recently, we have extended the system with more trackers for our growing fleet of vehicles and improved the integration with Vixen”.

As a result, GKR has fully integrated tracking and scheduling. The Telematics system works alongside Vixen’s Engineer’s Diary scheduling application, providing access to comprehensive monitoring and work to be allocated to the best located and first available engineer. As well as enabling GKR to provide an efficient service to its clients, this arrangement optimises use of staff and minimises fuel consumption for the fleet. In the event of a vehicle breakdown the company’s mechanics are also able to pinpoint the location. In addition, time sheets submitted by engineers through Vixen can be verified against the tracking reports. Discover more about Causeway Telematics.
