When the Coal Authority decided to invest in a powerful design tool, it investigated a number of options and, following a demonstration, selected the Volumetrics software module from Causeway’s Professional Design Suite (PDS).

The Coal Authority is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC). It has responsibility for protecting the public and the environment in coal mining areas by managing the effects of past coal mining. Part of the Authority’s role is to develop land that has previously been used for mining, which necessitates dealing with a number of legacy issues.

The Volumetrics module provides the functionality the Coal Authority needs to assess proposed sites for development and carry out the required design work quickly, accurately and efficiently.

PDS Volumetrics is a module within Causeway’s suite of BIM Infrastructure Design tools. It is a dynamic, digital modelling software tool for civil engineering that allows users to model existing topographical, sub surface, and proposed surfaces, and analyse the impact on earthworks volumes. It is compatible with all common survey data formats including DWG, Genio, Lidar, PDF and Civil 3D.

Key benefits
