SSE - What is Tradex?

Tradex provides secure and predictable invoice delivery. Your invoices are received in a format that will quickly be imported and processed, resulting in fewer errors and delays in processing your invoices for payment. Tradex is an e–trading connection that is used by organisations throughout the industry which means that your connection will also give you the ability to also exchange paperless invoicing with many other customers.

Why is Tradex important to SSE?

Tradex is a key part of SSE’s strategy for improving payment performance. It provides quick and cost effective ways for compliant invoices to be loaded to SSE’s payment systems facilitating reductions in the time taken to pay invoices.

Do all SSE suppliers have to submit invoices electronically?

Yes - SSE believe that electronic invoicing is necessary to improve our efficiency, sustainability and supplier integration. SSE requires all suppliers to submit electronic invoices through Tradex as we are confident that it offers cost effective options that will allow all of our suppliers the benefits of improved payment performance and increased visibility of payment processing.

I only send a few invoices; do I also need to use Tradex?

Yes - Tradex provides an online connection option for suppliers who cannot justify a connection from their accounts application. This is free to use to submit your invoices. If you send a larger number of invoices, whether to SSE or to other customers accessible through Tradex, then you should discuss connection options with the Tradex team.

Are there charges for using Tradex?

As mentioned above, there are a number of connection options available to you. If you are a low volume user, there is an option that is free to use where you key in your invoices "online" (Tradex Portal). If you send a sufficient volume (to SSE and others accessible through Tradex), then you can establish a connection that exports invoices from your back office and uploads them automatically into Tradex. This involves a setup and annual charge which the Tradex team can discuss with you based on your specific requirements.

I can't produce electronic invoices?

Will this work for my other customers and suppliers as well?

Yes - Your Tradex connection will provide you with the ability to exchange electronic trading documents with many other organisations as well.
