Waste management software from Yotta has helped Preston City Council improve refuse collection and street cleansing services. Since the introduction of the Mayrise Waste Management system the Council has seen a reduction in missed bins and improvements in street cleanliness. Reported incidents of litter, graffiti and fly-posting are all down and Preston City Council was also named as a Beacon Council for waste and recycling, due in part to the improvements made to the service through the use of the software.

“Yotta software is embedded at the heart of operations across a range of the most high profile Council services. The improvements we have made, and continue to make, would not have been possible without it,” commented Duncan Coward, Head of Waste Management at Preston City Council.

“As a result of the introduction of Mayrise Waste Management software we have been able to reduce missed collection reports by over 70%. This is in addition to numerous other service improvements, enabled through linkages to our website and direct access to data contained within the Mayrise system, including ordering of new bins, bulky waste collection requests and street cleansing issues.”

Mayrise Waste Management software from Yotta underpins a range of frontline services including neighbourhood management, environmental health, clean environments, parks as well as waste management. With more than 50 users, including staff in the Council’s contact centre, Mayrise Waste Management is used to record all incidents reports made by members of the public, via the council’s website and by council staff. To date Mayrise has been used to log more than 700,000 jobs.

90% of the jobs recorded in Mayrise are for information only, however those that remain are either tasked to the appropriate team to respond to for example missed bins, or passed on to a member of staff for investigation, such as fly-tipping reports. All actions are logged on the system to allow easy tracking of the progress of the job, and for jobs originating from the website; residents can monitor the progress remotely.

Since the introduction of Mayrise Waste Management software the services operated by Preston City Council have seen a steady and continued improvement reflected in reduced levels of missed bins and increases in street cleanliness. These include an ongoing reduction in missed refuse and recycling collections from 9,175 to 2,810 per year. Reports of graffiti are down from 14 percent to just over 2 percent and general detritus are down by more than a half. Litter and flyposting reports are also down.
