Yotta are partnering with infrastructure services company FM Conway to deliver a £30 million per annum Highway Maintenance Contract for Westminster City Council. The eight year contract, with optional four year extension, comprises highways maintenance services, including repairs. Elements of the contract provided by Yotta will include high tech road surveys to help Westminster Council inform their asset management process, produce forward works programmes and develop an ongoing maintenance programme. Yotta will also be implementing their Horizons highway asset management platform to improve access to and analysis of the collected survey data and other essential highway information.

Described as a framework agreement, neighbouring authorities are also able to call off elements of the Westminster contract with FM Conway including Yotta’s surveying services and software. WSP are third partners on the project supplying design services.

“Extensive research by our bid team and exhaustive discussions identified Yotta as the perfect partner for this contract,” commented Tom McConnell, Senior Contracts Manager at FM Conway. “The combination of inspection services and software offered by Yotta completed the package we were able to offer Westminster. Early indications are that by working together using Horizons we can move forward to a position of full asset maintenance in Westminster.”

Working alongside FM Conway, Yotta will complete a number of surveys on behalf of Westminster City Council including a SCRIM (Sideway-force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine) survey to provide a measurement of wet skidding resistance, a FNS (Footway Network Survey) survey and the production of UKPMS (UK Pavement Management System) datasets. Yotta will also be implementing their Horizons software to help visualise the collected data informing forward works programmes and future maintenance planning.

“Using Horizons we can collate all highway condition data, asset data and any other related spatial data in a single, easy to use, easily accessible system,” commented Rakesh Vaghela, Service Development Manager (Highways) at Westminster City Council. “We can drill into the data and understand differences between survey results and identify the effects of specific defects. Horizons will help us engage with elected members and forecast and illustrate the effects of different budgets and priorities.”

Yotta’s Horizons software is a highway Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) asset management platform designed to make it easier for asset managers to visualise, manage and optimise all their asset management strategies and records in a unique and effective way using a single cloud-based solution.
