Our commitments
At Causeway, we believe progress should be proven, not promised. Our commitments are how we turn ambition into action and ensure the change we create is measurable, transparent and lasting.
Our sustainability commitments are built on evidence, accountability and continuous improvement. We set clear, measurable targets based on operational data and subject to independent verification. Our reporting aligns with recognised sustainability standards to ensure transparency and consistency.
Our approach focuses on three areas: People, Planet and Innovation. These priorities guide how we manage risk, improve performance, and create long-term value across our operations and supply chain.

Science Based Targets validation
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated Causeway’s near-term greenhouse gas reduction targets, confirming alignment with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement.
These targets demonstrate Causeway’s measurable progress towards decarbonisation and our role in supporting the wider construction industry to report carbon accurately.
Official validated targets (approved 21 October 2025):
Operational targets
Our operational targets are woven into how we work. They guide the choices we make on energy, resources and reporting, ensuring sustainability is built into every aspect of our business and every decision we take.
These goals reflect our belief that progress should be practical as well as measurable. Each one represents a clear step towards running our business more responsibly and creating a positive impact that lasts.
100% renewable energy by 2026
Transitioning Head Office to certified renewable electricity suppliers, and working closely with landlords to expand renewable supply across leased sites.
Zero waste to landfill by 2027
Embedding circular economy principles across our UK sites.
Carbon-neutral operations by 2028
Eliminating residual emissions through verified reduction and removal schemes.
Annual ESG reporting cycle
Publishing verified progress aligned with GHG Protocol and SBTi criteria, with FY24 baseline data released in February 2026.
Policies and governance
Strong governance turns our sustainability commitments into measurable action. It’s embedded in how we run Causeway and shapes decisions across the business.
Our Sustainability Board, chaired by COO Ollie McGovern, meets quarterly to track progress, manage risks and ensure accountability. We work with South Pole as our independent partner to verify data, maintain compliance and uphold transparency in all reporting.
Our key policies define the standards we follow and are publicly available to give customers and partners confidence in our responsible business practices.

Data integrity - powered by CausewayOne Carbon
Accurate reporting starts with accurate data.
CausewayOne Carbon provides the backbone for consistent, verifiable Scope 3 data across the construction supply chain. Built on transactional data from CausewayOne e-Invoicing (formerly Tradex), it links live procurement information to emissions factors for materials and services - ensuring accuracy, traceability, and auditability.
Causeway applies the same rigour to its own reporting that it expects across the industry. Our carbon data is independently verified to maintain full objectivity which ensures CausewayOne Carbon remains a trusted solution for our customers, built on transparency and independent verification rather than internal validation.
