Causeway Technologies’ drainage design solutions have recently been adopted by three new organisations. Create Consulting Engineers, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy PPCP (previously Patrick Parsons) and Hampshire County Council are all utilising the powerful and intuitive Flow and Overland Flow drainage design packages.

Create is a consultancy of specialist engineers and sustainability consultants that provides a wide range of services including infrastructure planning, building services design, flood risk management and environmental analysis. With overland flow calculations required on virtually all drainage and flood risk assessment projects, Create needed an easy to use, cost effective alternative to time consuming manual processes or expensive software solutions.

Create had been evaluating its options and, as a current user of Causeway Professional Design Suite (PDS), had been considering Causeway Flow, which integrates seamlessly with PDS. To fully understand the benefits in practice, Create booked an engineer onto a Causeway Flow remote training course. Following the session, confident that it met all the technical and user requirements, Create upgraded its existing user licenses to include Flow and Overland Flow for both above and below ground drainage calculations.

Engineering consultancy PPCP (Patrick Parsons) delivers a broad array of geo-environmental, civil and structural engineering services and therefore requires an effective drainage analysis and design solution. The issue for them was that its current drainage design software had been discontinued and had been offered a move to a new program. Patrick Parsons took this as an opportunity to evaluate the available options, including Causeway Flow. A four-license trial of Flow determined it met all technical requirements – including BIM compliance and integration with Civil 3D – and was preferred by the team when compared with the new solution its current provider demonstrated. As such, Causeway and PPCP worked together to develop a comprehensive 6-month onboarding plan.

With drainage becoming an increasingly important part of residential housing scheme design, Hampshire County Council (HCC) required a cost-effective way for all members of the team to have access to drainage design and analysis tools. The cost of purchasing the number of licenses needed for the existing drainage solution made this unfeasible. When HCC’s drainage software came up for renewal, Causeway was able to match the price while also offering the ideal number of Causeway Live Design licenses, to bring a full suite of civils and drainage tools in one single design environment. In collaboration with HCC, Causeway developed three bespoke training modules to help smooth the transition to the new solution.

Causeway Flow is a powerful end-to-end hydraulic modelling solution for analysis and design of compliant and cost-effective storm and foul water drainage networks, enabling streamlined and adaptable designs. Causeway Overland Flow allows efficient analysis of a site to show surface water flow and provide a detailed evaluation of flood levels. It provides clear information in visual and graphical form to help identify problem areas and inform the design of drainage solutions.
