A new traffic sign warning of small wild animals has been announced today by DfT. The Secretary of State, Mark Harper, has himself issued a special authorisation to each traffic authority in England allowing them to use this sign without further formality.
A previous drawing of this symbol, known affectionately as ‘Holly the hedgehog’, was produced by DfT in 2018, but made subject to individual applications for its use. It wasn’t particularly distinctive, and tended to reduce to a black blob when viewed from a distance. The new graphic is much improved with bolder and additional detail, making it recognisable and clear, as sign pictograms need to be.
We have today released a download for those using our popular Causeway SignPlot software to enable you to design sign assemblies containing this new symbol.
