McCoy Contractors has adopted the Causeway Donseed biometric time and attendance solution across a number of construction sites in the UK as a replacement for paper timesheets.
The West Midlands-based contractors, groundwork and civil engineering firm opted for the biometric technology once the cost and time-saving benefits were realised when compared to their current manual process of using paper.
The contractor felt that the paper timesheet system that they were currently using was not efficient enough for their business functions, and they were not as accurate as they could be.
Additionally, the information that they could retain from the paper timesheets - which can often be lost or illegible - was minimal. The business hopes changing over to a construction-specific biometric solution will make a difference to a whole host of elements within its operations, from accurate working hours to a full view of the staff on-site at any time.
The added feature of creating employee profiles through the system for areas such as CSCS cards and qualifications, particularly for when it comes to reviewing the skills that they have available to projects that they are working on, was another key reason for choosing the Causeway Donseed solution.
Paper timesheets are still used by many companies across the country, but these numbers are decreasing steadily as the cost and time-saving benefits are realised. Not only can contractors review more detailed reports of onsite staff, but also ensure that employees are accountable for arriving and leaving the worksite at the correct times.
McCoy Contractors now have access to real-time reporting, which helps the team to understand costs, plan future projects and review the certifications of its workforce. The management and back-office teams benefit from more visibility and accountability across their staff, which will support everything from health and safety to future planning.
