We’re pleased to announce the release of version 3.80 of the UK’s most widely used sign face and sign structure design systems – Causeway SignPlot and Causeway SignLoad – featuring a host of improvements and all the latest signs required for the forthcoming TSRGD update in Wales.

In Wales 20 mph will become the default speed limit in urban areas on 17 September. Causeway SignPlot is the first system to cater for this change and the only one to include the new dragon plate as a vector graphic symbol accurate enough for signs manufacture. This symbol is closely based on the winning design in a competition for school children, judged by Margaret Calvert, OBE the co-designer of the UK’s system of traffic signs.

Causeway SignPlot leads the way as Wales prepares for 20mph rollout

Simon Morgan, chairman of Buchanan Computing (now part of Causeway Technologies) and original author of SignPlot commented “It has been a pleasure to work with the Welsh Government and to assist with the process to select the winning child’s artwork. Using SignPlot enabled the graphics for the Statutory Instrument to be produced quickly and accurately, as we had done for the TSRGD amendment for Scotland last year.”

In addition to the providing the new signs and symbols for Wales ahead of the amended regulations coming into force, the new software includes structures for ‘back-to-back’ signs and over twenty other enhancements. Several new features make it easier to place the correct symbol on a direction sign, as it had been observed in training courses that this not as easy as it could be for new users.

The built-in post and foundation design software, SignLoad, has been upgraded with many new structural components from leading suppliers, and in-built PDF output. SignLoad Professional is also available as a separate system.

Those with current support contracts can download the upgrade now from the Buchanan Computing User Area
